Condo Insurance and Townhome insurance is very similar to both renters and homeowners insurance.  Since most condominium and townhome associations maintain insurance policies to protect the majority of the property construction and also the common areas.  However, these policies do not cover the owner’s personal belongings, personal liability, damages to the interior of the unit, living expenses in the event of a loss, and damages to the interior of the unit.  Some associations require that you maintain coverage on everything from the stud wall inward, which would include drywall, paint, flooring, plumbing, and electrical.

Much like owning a home, the majority of mortgage companies in Tennessee require that your condo or town home be adequately protected before the purchase.  It is important to discuss with the association what coverage you are required to maintain and what you are responsible for.
